Find out what BucknellBridge students have to say!
Charlie has been teaching us for 6 months now and has carefully steered us from complete beginners to surprisingly competent! You won’t find a more knowledgeable, considerate and above all patient teacher, and he also makes it a lot of fun. I would recommend him without reservation

Learning to play Bridge was on my bucket list for many years, but it always had the stigma that you had to be old to play. Well I wished I hadn’t listened to those people who thought that, and started playing years ago. I am loving the tuition that Charlie gives us as a group once a week. It is fun and he has the patience of a saint. We all started as beginners and approximately 16 weeks on, a group of us mature ladies can now master playing a game, with Charlie’s guidance. I don’t know how he’s achieved this, as we are all hopeless at remembering and practising, but he has. I cannot recommend Charlie as a Bridge Tutor at whatever level enough. Not only do you get excellent first class tuition, you get a lovely calm friendly face with it.

Charlie has been a fantastic teacher, reminding us of all the things we had forgotten from when we last played Bridge 15 years ago. He has made the whole thing really enjoyable and is always incredibly patient. The classes are well structured but Charlie is also happy to respond to questions that come up during play. He manages the difficult job of keeping the class moving on while never rushing or pressurising us. It’s been great fun!

Why learn from BucknellBridge?
I have been teaching for over 7 years, from beginner to international level. I coach the England Junior International team and am a Full Member of the EBTA teaching program. I assisted in writing and editing the EBTA bridge course, which is the national bridge curriculum and have written my own course designed to encourage and stimulate students in their positive learning of bridge. The only bit I have not yet worked out is how to prevent my students from becoming addicted to the game!
Oxford Bridge School
I regularly teach at the Oxford Bridge Club at which there is the Oxford Bridge School, an initiative set up by the club to provide regular teaching on a broad range of topics for various abilities. Some courses are held face-to-face at the bridge club, whilst some are held online, allowing anyone to book in. The courses can be booked here, to book courses run by myself, look for courses run by Charlie Bucknell.
